During autumn 2004 a layer of stratus clouds settled for a few days in the Rhône valley. This is something quite common in the area due to the high level of humidity produced by the Rhône river and the Geneva Lake. In highly populated areas, such as around large industrialised cities, stratus clouds also occur but unfortunately for a different reason: pollution. This picture was taken one late evening from the top of the Rochers de Naye mountain (2041m) right above the town of Montreux, on the east end of the Geneva Lake.
